Artist Statement
Jocelyn Almy-Testa, gallery owner, artist and writer, works from the simple notion that passion is, or should be, prevalent in all we do. Passion, in all its forms, whether it be the fire burning and yearning for release in the form of creative expression, love for another, or for a social or spiritual call to action, is what lies at the very core of every movement that has ever been made in the arts and society. Without acknowledging the life force of passion, we deplete our capability to live and create with meaningful consequence.
Almy-Testa's photographic work illustrates the strength of the feminine. By photographically capturing the simple action of a woman descending a stair case, or a simple glance at herself in a mirror, Almy-Testa illustrates the decisiveness of women to willingly embrace their own femininity as source of a woman's individual power.

Ode
Twists and turns
and whistles torn
from lips of babes
and mouths of men.
O're love forlorn
those mouths do speak
and ink doth drip
from mine loose pen.
Zak
One summer
on the basketball court
he had a red scooter.
We laughed,
looping around,
falling off,
scrapping our knees.
He was
just a boy
with a scooter
and a girl,
smiling,
on a basketball court.
Now,
he's one of the
too many slain
young men
I used to know.
