SPEAK UP!
H.R. Britton, Speak Up Feature "Melting in Madras", Wed July 14, Lynn, MA
H.R. Britton will be the featured performer at SPEAK UP Spoke Word Open Mike this
Wednesday, July 14th at Tatiana's Restaurant in Lynn, MA. Melting In Madras is a
funny and reflective solo show about seeking, singing and sickness. In 1995, as a wide-eyed,
just-out-of-college 23-year-old, H.R. traveled to South India to explore yoga, meditation, and
music for a year. But after three months, his quest for spiritual clarity took a detour when he
became seriously ill. Drawing on character work, live music, and storytelling, Melting in Madras
vividly paints portraits of the people he met, and weaves his work into “a moving and humorous
account of an India less traveled.” BackStage called H.R. “an engaging storyteller... one honest,
likable guy telling his story with unaffected simplicity."
Check out H. R. Britton's webpage http://www.overcoattheater.com for more juicy details.
