Norah Dooley, Storyteller

Norah Dooley will be telling “Charter School” English for "gulag” - you die from the work
this Wednesday July 28th at 7 PM at Speak Up! Spoken Word Open Mike at
Tatiana's Restaurant, 70 Market Street, Lynn, MA.

Norah Dooley is a storyteller and children’ s author. Norah’s widely acclaimed picture books,
Everybody Cooks Rice, Everybody Bakes Bread, Everybody Serves Soup and Everybody Brings Noodles,
(Carolrhoda Books@lernerbooks.com) are four titles in a series about her former neighborhood in Cambridge, MA.
Norah Dooley has published 5 storytelling CDs. She appears in schools, libraries and teacher’s conferences.
She has performed as a featured storyteller in the Christmas and Spring Revels in Cambridge and Boston MA,
the Cambridge River Festival, Newport Folk Festival, Albany NY River Festival, 3 Apples Storytelling Festival, MA
and at the Clearwater Festival.

Norah has been presenting workshops and stories for people of all ages throughout New England and also in
New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Phoenix . She has published 6 spoken word CDs available at CDBaby
including Music of Angels (1999), Stories Nobody Told Me “Italian” Folk tales (2002) and Stories from the Neighborhood,
World Folk tales (2002), Rabbitales (2006) My Bad,Bad Dog and other Neighbors (2006) and Irish Folk Tales: Live @Passim (2008).
Norah Dooley, along with three folks, was awarded the Brother Blue Award for supporting Storytelling in New England.
Norah is one of the founders of massmouth, a Massachusetts storytelling organization that sponsored a
Story Slam at the Boston Public Library that drew 340 folks to the Rabb Lecture Hall. Standing Room Only.

SPEAK UP! meets every Wednesday. We gather at 7 PM. Sign up begins at
7 PM. You will get your own five minute slot of fame at the microphone.
The Open Mike starts at 7:30. Our featured performer goes on at 8:30 PM
followed by more Open Mikers till 10 PM. See you at SPEAK UP!
