Drop off original works: Tues - Thurs, March 1, 2, 3, 7-9pm & March 5, 10am-4pm

This call for work is for 2D and 3D pieces that depict or relate in some way to food or eating. Since the earliest forms of art, humans have been recording their stories of food, whether through depictions of hunting, gathering, planting, cooking, etc. or the beautification of vessels, tools and utensils used in the process of preparing then consuming meals. The way we raise, process and eat our food has changed dramatically since those early cave wall paintings and pinch pots. This show means to give a modern glimpse of how we think about and visualize our relationships with food and the social context of food, eating or preparing a meal together, and more.

The Little Gallery under the Stairs gallery program promotes and exhibits the work of contemporary visual artists and artisans who celebrate the human spirit with inventiveness, expression, and skill, through visually represented stories, journeys, or points of view.

Juror: Taste will be juried by TLGUTS staff

Important Dates:

· Exhibition: March 19 - April 23, 2011

· Drop Off: March 1, 2, 3, 7:00-10:00pm & Sat, March, 5, 10am - 4pm

· Notification by email of acceptance: Thurs 7-10pm, March 10, 2011

· Pick-Up Work not accepted: Sat, March 12, 10am-4pm

· Opening reception: Sat, March 26, 4pm - 6pm

· Pick-Up Accepted, Unsold work: Sat, April 23, 10am-4pm

· Drop-off Entry Procedure:

· Submit up to three (3) pieces of original work during drop-off dates and times.

· Work must be for sale.

· Drop off location:

TLGUTS 25 Exchange Street
Central Square, Lynn, MA

· Print inventory form from website.

· Work must fit through a standard door frame. No pieces wider than 36".

· Work must be professionally presented and ready to hang with sufficient, supportive hanging hardware. No saw tooth hangers.

· All work must be labeled with artist's name, address, email, phone number, title of work, media, and price.

· Work must be accompanied by a resume or bio, and a short statement about the work.

· Images for website must be submitted after acceptance. The gallery will take professional digital images of work for an additional fee if requested.

· Work previously shown at TLGUTS or LynnArts will not be accepted.

· Incomplete entries risk disqualification.

Awards: amounts tbd

Best of Show, 2 Exceptional Works

Entry Fee: $12 per entry, 3 for $30.

Commission: 35% commission on all sales.

Liability: Artwork will be insured upon arrival at TLGUTS. We reserve the right not to insure works that are damaged or structurally unsound. Works left at TLGUTS beyond the stated pick-up date are not insured and will be charged a $5 per day/per piece fee.

Accessibility: TLGUTS is fully accessible to people with disabilities. There is a ramp

entry in the back of the building, accessible restroom facilities, and an elevator. Call ahead to have someone meet you at the back door.

Parking: Free on street parking. No time limits on weekends. TLGUTS is located directly across the street from the Lynn Commuter Rail T stop, in the lower level of the LynnArts building.
